BCHS Manuscript • Later Institutional History

Presbyterian Church Handwritten History, November 11, 1946

A handwritten local church history preserving the congregation's remembered early settlement, ministry, property, and building chronology.

How this project uses the manuscript

The manuscript is difficult to read in places. The project therefore uses it selectively for institutional and site-history context rather than presenting a definitive transcription. It preserves discussion of Matthew Green Wallace, the 1817-1818 shared worship building, later property changes, the Monfort era, and a tradition of rebuilding in 1854.

Evidence boundary: This is a 1946 retrospective history. Earlier session minutes, newspapers, deeds, and the 1876 published church history carry greater weight when the sources conflict.
